Nature inspired innovation

SCROLL DOWN

Nature inspired innovation

"Those who are inspired by a model other than nature, a mistress above all masters, are laboring in vain."

- Leonardo Da Vinci

What

What

Nature has all the answers. WE JUST NEED TO LEARN HOW TO LISTEN.

Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature's time tested patterns and strategies.

When we take our inspiration from nature, we are borrowing blueprints that have been through billions of years of research and development. Many of the problems we are trying to solve already have elegant, simple solutions that are found in the natural world.

By listening to the wisdom of the living systems that have evolved over eons,  we can channel our human creativity to solve design challenges not only sustainably, but regeneratively.

Mimetika is a biomimetic-led consultancy pioneering life-centered design.

Our work is focused on three main areas:

  1. Community design, based on biomimetic, open-source models that allow for inclusive replication

  2. Creating new  organizational structures and  cooperative economic engines based on biomimetic principles

  3. Brand strategy, biomimetic innovation and sustainable design solutions for future-forward organizations

Modular, multi-disciplinary teams

Mimetika was founded by Yael Marantz in 2015. She is the principle advisor and brings in multi-disciplinary teams through a modular, network-based approach.

Yael is one of the co-founders and stewards of Brave Earth, a living lab for regeneration. Here she is immersing herself in the wisdom of biomimicry and community design, prototyping a model for a post-capitalist community project in Costa Rica.

Fascinated by alternative experiments in living, Yael was the Communications Director for Global Ecovillage Network (GEN), a not-for-profit that catalyzes the power of communities for a regenerative world. She became involved with GEN after several years of visiting and researching ecovillages and completing her masters dissertation on How we can reimagine communities through the lens of Biomimicry, Biophilia and Living Labs.

Prior to that  she was a senior strategist at brand, design and innovation consultancy Wolff Olins in New York, leading design-thinking and innovation processes for an array of Fortune 500 clients and not-for-profit organizations.
